The 2024 Season Begins on August 12, 2024
The Off-Season Begins TODAY

Preparation is the key to maintaining a top-notch volleyball program.  Over the past 20 years, Ironwood Ridge has built a strong tradition of developing excellent volleyball players and teams.  Expectations are high here and you must make a choice to share these expectations or make the commitment to meet them regardless.  The emphasis for our off-season training is to focus on allowing all athletes to be mentally prepared for the season, as well as getting everyone in shape to compete at a high level while avoiding injury, to improve team chemistry with the new class added to the varsity level, and to give our rising senior class a chance to lead the way in the weight room and gym during the summer.

The Off-Season Program offers Nighthawk Volleyball Training Camps, Team Camps, and a Strength/Conditioning program for prospective volleyball players that are listed below.

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENT: IRONWOOD RIDGE ENROLLMENT

All prospective student-athletes must enrolled at Ironwood Ridge High School for the upcoming school year in order to participate in any off-season activities.  Returning players must be currently enrolled, and transfers and/or incoming freshman must be enrolled or in the process of completing enrollment with the school registrar.

PRE-PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENT: ATHLETIC CLEARANCE

All prospective student-athletes must have a current clearance packet (including a current physical and health history form) on file with the Athletic Department BEFORE they are allowed to participate in any off-season activities. Physicals for the 2024 season must be dated on or after March 1, 2024.

Please contact the Athletic Department with any questions or concerns.

STRENGTH/CONDITIONING SESSIONS

Off-season strength and conditioning is available for all prospective volleyball athletes in order to prepare them for the physical testing that will be performed during player evaluations as well as to enhance performance during the season and to reduce the chance of injury.

We become a team by sweating together in the off-season.  The Strength Coaches will provide a volleyball-specific and cycled workout that will require 4 days per week.  It is acceptable to supplement workouts with a personal trainer and/or another organization.  However, it is not acceptable to replace the volleyball workout expectations with a trainer and/other organization.  Please see the Strength Coaches for alternative plans for conflicts with summer school, National club tournaments, and family vacations.

If you are a varsity candidate and will be missing more than 8 team workouts during the Summer—please see Coach Lang.

IRONWOOD RIDGE VOLLEYBALL CAMPS

The Ironwood Ridge Volleyball Camps offer a Novice/Intermediate Skills Camp in June; and our High School Camps in July.   These camps give prospective players the opportunity to train with the coaches at Ironwood Ridge and have been the cornerstone of the Volleyball program by offering invaluable instruction each summer to our players at an affordable low cost.

VOLLEYBALL TEAM CAMPS

The Volleyball Team Camps are important to put the prospective teams on the same page technically and systematically before the start of the season.  Individually, the team camps are a great opportunity for prospective athletes to train with teammates and coaching staff while representing Ironwood Ridge.

The program will send teams to the University of Arizona Team Camp and the Northern Arizona University Team Camp in Flagstaff.  These camps are different, athletes attend and participate in the camps as a team - registration is coordinated by the coaching staff.

  • UA VOLLEYBALL TEAM CAMP (JULY 19-21, 2024):   The camp is open to all prospective volleyball players from incoming Freshmen to Seniors.  The camp is held on the University of Arizona campus; the IRVB teams will be coached by a UA Camp Coach to train and compete with other high school teams.   Player registration is $175.

  • NAU VOLLEYBALL TEAM CAMP (JULY 16-18, 2024):   The camp is open to all prospective volleyball players from incoming Freshmen to Seniors.  The camp is held on the University of Arizona campus; the IRVB teams will be coached by a UA Camp Coach to train and compete with other high school teams.   Player registration is $250.

If interested, please contact Coach Lang to receive an invitation link and reserve a spot on one of the teams.  Registration links will be sent by the coaching staff based on availability to register for the camps.  Registration must be completed directly to the camp and each family will be responsible for the cost of the camp.  If you need financial assistance for any camp, please see Coach Lang.

PLEASE NOTE: Participation in the either of the team camps will not guarantee any prospective volleyball player a spot on Ironwood Ridge Volleyball Varsity roster in the Fall.  The camp is open to prospective players, based on availability, provided they are currently participating in the off-season.

OPEN BEACH: SUMMER NIGHTS ON THURSDAYS

Come out and join the #BeachParty at Nighthawk Beach.  The Beach will be open for players and alumni to escape the heat during the summer at the Beach Volleyball Facility.  The advantage of playing beach volleyball is the fact that it forces you to develop all your skills.  Also, playing in the sand helps get players in better shape during the summer.

IRVB hosts open play on Thursdays from 6:30-8:30 PM.  The lights will go on at 6:30 PM as the temperature drops in the evening.

Check online for the schedule.
