Advanced/Intermediate
Defensive Skills Camp

JULY 6-9, 2026

MONDAY - THURSDAY:  4:30 - 6:30 PM

PLEASE NOTE SCHEDULE:  This summer, the Auxiliary Gym's floor will be renovated during the month of June.  If there is any unforeseeable issues, this camp may be capped at 24 athletes or offer two sessions to accommodate all athletes on three courts.   (Updated 3/01/2026)

 

ENTERING GRADES 7-12 IN THE FALL

As the only defensive volleyball camp in Tucson, this camp is designed for athletes entering grades 7–12 who have a burning desire to play defense.  Whether you're a setter, outside hitter, or middle blocker, chances are your coach has asked you to improve your defense!

Disciplined defense has been the cornerstone of the Ironwood Ridge Volleyball program. Over the past 20 years, the Nighthawks have averaged 10.56 digs per game while limiting conference opponents to just 7.9 kills per game and a .115 hitting percentage.  The Nighthawk program has also placed more liberos on post-season teams than any other high school program in the area.  This camp gives players the opportunity to learn from defensive-minded coaches and players, helping each camper become a more valuable contributor to their high school or club team.

Sessions will focus specifically on ball control and defensive techniques to improve execution in game situations through focused, high-intensity training. The camp will be taught using a hands-on approach, with each camper progressing through step-by-step instruction that emphasizes posture and fundamental skills such as digging, passing, and emergency floor defensive rolls. Serving and blocking will also be incorporated. Campers will learn a variety of defensive systems and styles to better understand and execute their responsibilities on the court.

  • $150 (if registered before June 30, 2026)
