Defensive Skills Camp

As the only defensive camp in Tucson, this camp is designed for athletes entering grades 7-12 who have a burning desire to play defense! Whether your a setter, outside hitter, or middle blocker, we're pretty sure that your coach has asked you to play better defense!
Disciplined defense has been the cornerstone of the Ironwood Ridge Volleyball program. Over the past 15 years, the Nighthawks won the Southern Region Championship while averaging 10.56 digs/game and have limited their conference opponents to 7.9 kills/game and .115 attacking. The Nighthawk program has placed more Liberos on post-season teams than any other high school program. This camp provides players an opportunity to learn from defensive-minded coaches and players, making each camper a valuable player on their high school or club team!
The sessions focus specifically on general ball handling while improving defensive techniques for improved execution during game situations through excellent, intensive training. The camp will be taught with a hands-on approach - each camper will be taken through step-by-step progressions, which will include posture and basic fundamentals such as digging, passing, and emergency floor defensive rolls; serving and blocking will be included. Campers will also learn a variety of systems and styles that help them with their defensive responsibilities on the court.
