Jerry Azares joined the Ironwood Ridge Women’s Volleyball coaching staff as a volunteer assistant coach in August of 2020 before being named head coach of the Junior Varsity team prior to the 2022 season. He also serves as the Junior Varsity coach for the Nighthawk Beach Volleyball program.

As the Junior Varsity coach, Azares has played an important role in the development of student-athletes and in building program continuity between the freshman, junior varsity, and varsity levels.

Azares brings several years of coaching experience at the club level. Most recently, he has coached the 16U, 15U, and 17U National-level teams for Club Cactus Juniors Volleyball Club. His teams have competed nationally in California, Las Vegas, and New Mexico.

Prior to joining the Nighthawk coaching staff, Azares coached at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton from [YEAR–YEAR], where his squads won 

Both of Azares’ children played at Ironwood Ridge for Coach Lang. His son, Jerred, was the starting libero for the men’s program in 2012, and his daughter, Jaedyn, was an All-Region libero on the 2020 team that finished 15–1 during the shortened season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On the sand, Jaedyn competed in the No. 3 flight for the Nighthawk Beach team during one of the program’s most successful seasons in 2021, helping Ironwood Ridge upset No. 5 Corona del Sol to advance to the Division I quarterfinals.
