TUCSON, AZ - Ironwood Ridge Volleyball is excited to welcome the University of Arizona Volleyball team to campus as the Wildcats prepare for the upcoming season.  Arizona will hold an Open Practice and Exhibition Scrimmage at Ironwood Ridge High School on August 13 at 6:00 PM, giving volleyball fans throughout Southern Arizona an opportunity to get an early look at the Wildcats before the start of the new season.

The trip back to Ironwood Ridge High School renews UA Volleyball's tradition of showcasing the program for the Oro Valley community.  The Wildcats last visited Ironwood Ridge during the pre-season in 2017 to a packed volleyball gym.

Doors to the Open Practice will open at 5:30 PM.  The Wildcats will sign autographs following the scrimmage.

The event will be open to the public, providing athletes, coaches, families, and volleyball fans with a unique opportunity to watch a Division I program prepare for its upcoming campaign.

A FIRST LOOK AT THE WILDCATS
The Open Practice and Exhibition will provide an opportunity to see the Wildcats in game-like action as they continue preparing for their annual Red-Blue Scrimmage on August 15 at McKale Center. Fans will have the opportunity to watch the Wildcats work through drills, systems, and competitive situations before taking the court for an Exhibition Scrimmage.

 

Head coach Charita Stubbs is returning eight letterwinners from last season, highlighted by All-Big 12 honoree Carlie Cisneros. Arizona is also returning libero Brenna Ginder, opposites Britt Carlson and Renee Jones, and middle blocker Journey Tucker as major contributors to last season's NCAA Tournament team. The Cats welcome freshmen Hayden Reeder, Marina Vosloo, and Gigi Whann in addition to six transfers. Arizona's transfers include Kristen Dear, Destiny Ndam-Simpson, Kennedy Osunsanmi, Harmony Sample, Maria Olga Siapani, and Payton Woods.

 

The event will also provide an opportunity for local middle school and high school athletes to see the next level of volleyball up close and learn from the UA players and coaches, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at a collegiate volleyball practice.
