Nighthawk Volleyball Receives AVCA Team Academic Award

ORO VALLEY, AZ - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) recently announced that the Ironwood Ridge Women's Indoor Volleyball (and Beach Volleyball Team) has earned the AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2024-25 school-year.

The AVCA awards the Team Academic Award to teams that maintain a year-long GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.00 scale. This is the volleyball program's 24th consecutive award.  The award honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average. 

The Nighthawks maintained a 4.1021 GPA during the 2025-26 academic year to earn the distinction, which is the highest cumulative team GPA in program history.  Ten Nighthawks earned a 4.00 or better this school-year.  In addition, Ironwood Ridge was the only team in Southern Arizona to earn the recognition and earned the AVCA's Honor Roll Distinction for having a Team GPA in top 20% of the Nation!

Overall, 1,432 college and high school volleyball teams were awarded the AVCA Team Academic Award this year.
